Just off the main river in the yard’s mooring basin is Swallows, which sleeps 4 people with the comfort of the gentle tide underneath. After a short 3 minute walk from your private parking space, you enter the light and airy space of the houseboat, with windows flanking all sides. Access is via the balcony and depending on the tide you either have to step up or down to get on board.
The living room is at the front, complete with sliding glass doors onto the deck, sofa, and a small smart tv. The kitchen area is well equipped with a cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. There are 2 bedrooms on board. The first has a double bed, while the second is a bunk room with bespoke L shaped bunks, and both offer great views of the river, where you can watch boats gently drift along throughout the day. There is also a stylish bathroom complete with a basin, WC, and a bath.
Swallows also comes with its own private rowing boat for you to use during your stay. If you feel like trying sailing, we can lend you a basic sail pack one afternoon. It fits onto your rowboat and you are ready for your own Swallows and Amazons adventure.
As a working yard shared with the pleasant comings and goings of the local wildlife, during the day there are boats coming and going, so there is a real buzz about the place.
If you who want to get out and about and explore then we offer self drove day launch hire, guided canoe tours and SUP lessons. Guests also bring their own with them, just make sure your licence covers you for the Broads (Paddle UK is good). If you want to try something totally different our pedal boat for two is a wonderful way to see the wildlife. Private Fishing is permitted off the houseboats and around the yard as long as you have a fishing licence.
