We are privileged to be custodians of our own small part of the Broads National Park, and we are committed to ensuring we take the greatest care of the environment that we can. Our legacy for future generations is to ensure they can continue to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings.
We are proud to be Silver award members of Green Tourism, whom promote sustainable tourism across the Globe. For more information about Green Tourism click here https://www.green-tourism.com/pages/home
We are always working hard to ensure we use as many green initiatives as possible, and here is a list of some of them you will notice when you visit:
All our cleaning products are made by ecover, and we refill containers (so please don’t recycle them) for more information on their products click here https://www.ecover.com
We have recycling facilities on the yard for general, recycling and glass
We use push button taps in our toilets for guests
We use local contractors and produce whenever we can
We reuse and repurpose materials as appropriate, for example the popular cable drum tables
Our electricity is on a tariff that is from 100% renewable sources (SSE)
We use GTL (Gas To Liquid) diesel fuel in our tractors and workboats to reduce local pollution
Biodiversity and habitat creation
We have deliberately rewilded areas of the boat yard in order to ensure we are encouraging local wildlife ad creating habitats for them to flourish in. We have worked in partnership with local green initiatives of the Waveney Rivers Trust, to plant seeds from local sources to promote growth of species native to this area. Since we have started this we have seen a significant increase in wildlife, including dragon flies, otters, marsh harriers, kestrels, barn owls and even a seal!
On our you tube channel we include our green initiatives, take a look at this one which taels about the habitat.
